Children

UPUCC Children’s Ministry provides a loving environment where children are encouraged to develop a relationship with God, with themselves and with their community. Each child is given an opportunity for spiritual growth through Godly Play, Creative Play, Covenant Friends and Worship.

Our Children’s Ministry involves adult volunteers working together to plan the individual events. Each Sunday, a nursery is provided for infants through Pre-K.

“Godly Play” (a Montessori-based Church School curricula) welcomes Pre-K through 5th graders.

    What is Godly Play?

“Godly Play” is an imaginative Montessori approach to working with children that supports, challenges, nourishes and guides their spiritual quest. It is more akin to spiritual direction for children than proscribed religious education. In Godly Play, we enter into parables, silence, sacred stories and sacred liturgy in order to discover God, ourselves, one another and the world around us.

  • What is Creative Play?

“Creative Play” is a summertime Children’s program that offering children opportunities to explore their creative spirits. Children engage in singing, photography, painting, arts and crafts, cake decorating, and nature walks as they explore creative ways to be in covenant with God, themselves and others.

  • What are Covenant Friends?

“Covenant Friends” are intergenerational relationships promoting healthy friendships within our community of faith. This program facilitates opportunities for adults and children to have a direct and lasting impact on the life of the other.

We would be honored for your child to join UPUCC children in experiencing the journey of faith together.

UPUCC Safe Church Policy

The UPUCC Safe Church Policy Concerning Abuse Prevention document provides detailed information on the policy and a method for obtaining a background check.

In order to facilitate this new policy, all Covenant Partners who wish to volunteer with UPUCC children and youth need to

  1. Print the UPUCC Safe Church Policy Concerning Abuse Prevention
  2. Complete pages 5 and 6
  3. Submit the completed form to Joi Williams

Volunteers for 2010 will have to have the form completed and submitted by January 31st, 2010. Contact Joi Williams for more information.

According to the policy, all confidential information will be locked in a file cabinet under the care of the Minister of Children and Youth. In addition to the background check, all volunteers will be asked to attend a safe church/safe child training.
