On Sunday, March 28, UPUCC will host our second annual food packing event for Stop Hunger Now (SHN). We will pack, in the space of two hours, 10,000 meals for the hungry and will have fun doing it. Children and adults are welcome to participate! Stop Hunger Now (SHN) is a Raleigh-based international hunger relief organization that coordinates the distribution of food and other life-saving aid around the world. SHN has a proven track record of getting aid to the most destitute and hungry of our world in a sustainable, efficient and effective manner.
Please plan to join us after our regular worship service (celebrating our 11th anniversary) on March 28. We will have a congregational meal consisting of the same kind of food that we will be packaging (with a variety of seasonings to suit your taste!) and then will convert our worship space into an assembly line, packaging food at a breakneck pace! Those food packets will then be sent to alleviate hunger in the neediest and most vulnerable people in our world. It’s hard to think of a better way to spend a Sunday afternoon.
The Faith in Action Committee will be happy to accept donations to help with the cost of this event, either before our packing day or on that day. There will be a jar at the back of the sanctuary for contributions.
