Faith in Action is happy to bring an opportunity for us to try out some yoga and relaxation, through a friend of a friend of Pamela Blizzard’s. Alison Darch teaches yoga downtown at Blue Lotus, and will appear for a trial run at UPUCC the first Saturday in March. She writes about her one-hour session:
Yoga nidra is a powerful technique in which you learn to relax conciously. It is a led, systematic method of inducing physical, mental and emotional relaxation. The most important thing in yoga nidra is to refrain from sleep as you lose the awareness you are aiming for in the practice. This part of the practice is done lying down in Savasana. Prior to the nidra we would do a 20 to 30 minute warm up of stretches and yoga movement to prepare the body to be quiet.
A yoga mat and a blanket would be needed for this practice. Please bring $10 each in cash for this lesson, and let’s start the weekend together with a deep relaxation!
Please also sign up by emailing Pamela at blizzkin@gmail.com. Minimum 5 people needed.
