Doug began laying the groundwork for UPUCC (formerly North Raleigh United Church) in the fall of 1998. He has two “grown” children, Jess and Jordan. (Jordan is graduate of UNC-G with a degree in Theater and now studies at The Carolina School of Broadcasting in Charlotte. Jess and her husband, Andrew, are both pursuing PhD's in Environmental Science at the University of Wisconsin at Madison.)
In November 2012 Doug married Janice Odom. Janice is the Director of The Caldwell Fellows at NCSU. (Doug and Janice met about 300 years ago in Seminary and feel incredibly lucky to have found each other in new ways in their advanced age! Janice, by the way, also has a grown son, Wren. Wren received his degree from Appalachian State where he majored in Appropriate Technology.)
Doug was born in Raleigh and has pastored in Burlington, NC, and Oberlin, Ohio. He has served on numerous committees and boards of the Southern and Ohio Conferences of the United Church of Christ. In addition, Doug loves most everything about the out-of-doors.
