Doug began laying the groundwork for UPUCC (formerly North Raleigh United Church ) in the fall of 1998.  He has two “semi-grown” children, Jessica and Jordan. (Jordan is back at home with a degree in Theater that he exercises regularly in Triangle area productions. Jessica is in graduate studies at the University of Wisconsin at Madison.) The family also includes two well-loved dogs, Sassy and Maggie.

 

Doug was born in Raleigh, raised a Southern Baptist and graduated from Wake Forest University in 1979 and from Southeastern Theological Seminary in 1984. He received ministerial standing in the UCC in 1985. Since that time he has served pastorates in Burlington, NC, and Oberlin, Ohio. In 1990, Denise, Doug, Jessica and Jordan spent a year with Habitat for Humanity in rural Georgia and as International Partners in Mexico. Doug loves most everything about the out of doors and has served on numerous committees and boards of the Southern and Ohio Conferences of the United Church of Christ.
